About Rachael Austen

A finalist in the John Kerr  International Award for English Song, I studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and was taught under Penelope Mackay, Yvonne Kenny, Eugene Asti and Sarah Walker. I have sung professionally for many professiona church choirs, including St Paul’s Knightsbridge, St Brides Fleet Street London, and was member of the Chamber Choir ‘Breve’. I have also made regular appearances with the early music group, The Armonico Consort, having been a  featured soloist on their critically acclaimed album ‘Naked Byrd Two’. Venues perfomed in include  the Cadogan Hall and The Royal Albert Hall in London, the Thomaskirche in Leibzig and the Stephansdom in Vienna. Solo engagements include The  Royal Artillery Orchestra, the Choir of St Stephen’s House Oxford,  The Band of The Parachute Regiment,  Allegro Appassionato and Lewisham Choral Society in.  I was the musical director of the Woolwich Military Wives choir and have directed choirs in all of the schools I have had the pleasure of working in. . I have spent the last 15 years working in schools teaching music from reception age to age 18. Teaching is a big part of my life; I absolutely adore using my skills and experience to help educate and enrich the lives of others.
